BALANCING SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATION AND PUBLIC PERCEPTION: ECONOMIC CONSIDERATIONS ON TIME ALLOCATION IN SCIENCE
Chantal Thieme , Seeburg Castle University, Faculty of Management, Seekirchen/Salzburg, AustriaAbstract
The allocation of time in the field of scientific research is a critical aspect that influences both scientific publication and public perception. This paper examines the economic considerations involved in balancing time allocation between scientific publication and public engagement in the realm of science. It explores the trade-offs researchers face when deciding how to allocate their time and resources, taking into account the incentives and rewards associated with scientific publication as well as the growing importance of public perception and engagement. By analyzing the economic implications of time allocation decisions, this study aims to provide insights into the challenges and potential strategies for achieving a balance between scientific publication and public perception. The findings contribute to the broader understanding of the dynamics between the scientific community, the public, and the societal impact of scientific research.
